Russian President Vladimir Putin called the partnership between Russia and China a model of interstate relations.
"Today, amid a complex geopolitical situation, the comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China represent a model of interstate relations. At its core lie strong traditions of friendship, respect for sovereignty, equality, and mutual benefit," Putin said at the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Bishkek.
The two met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a grouping that has grown into a truly international organization, Putin said.
"The SCO was established 25 years ago at the initiative of China and Russia, and I'm very glad to see that our initiative is now enjoying such a long life," the Russian president said.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation bears an important mission in maintaining stability and promoting development in our region," Xi said at the meeting with Putin.
